SWIMMING POOLS IN PUERTO PRINCESA CITY

To start this off, please be aware that I don’t swim (at least not yet 🙂 ) and so as many Filipinos. For a Westerner to hear about this, it is both funny and shocking considering that Philippines is surrounded by water. In fact, 78%  of Filipino children cannot swim and is one of the leading cause of death. But despite that sad and shocking fact, Filipinos still like to be around water if there is any. This can be either in the beach or in swimming pools or water spas.

WHAT IT IS LIKE

Growing up in a nearby province close to the Philippine capital, we used to rent an apartment almost directly beside a Swimming Resort. It was named ‘Fantasy Island’. They had huge slides for a kid like me back then. It was large swimming pool resort. They were few of those type of resort in our province where we used to live.

Now, they are of course bigger, better and with huge slides than when we were just kids.

IN PALAWAN

When we moved to Palawan some 10 years ago, we noticed how simple the people here are when it comes to swimming pool resorts. There were maybe just two swimming pools often inside private residential property. These two are also open for public with minimal entrance fee. Cottage rates applies. Hotels such as Legend, Asturias and Royal Oberoi have their own pools too but is often charging more than what the general public can afford. Ten years later, we have swimming pools all over the place and they are looking more than a private pool. Take a look at the pictures below.
